Varius is an annual subscription paid by the organization. We work out a price with you that reflects your ensemble’s size and how you’ll use Varius. Every plan includes every feature: no tiers, no per-seat fees, no upgrades to unlock the basics.

No. Every Varius subscription includes every feature we ship: the diff engine, version history, the live-push iPad and iPhone apps, archive export, the librarian dashboard, and section-assignment tools. Pricing reflects your organization’s size and use, not which capabilities you’re allowed to touch.

No. One organizational subscription covers every player, every stand, every device. Section members install the iPad or iPhone app and sign in with the credentials your librarian shares. There’s no separate per-player charge.

Yes. One subscription covers everything your organization runs: a symphony, a chamber orchestra, a sinfonietta, and a youth ensemble under one umbrella. We size pricing to the whole program, not per-ensemble.

Yes. School districts, conservatories, and multi-ensemble institutions get pricing that reflects the full scope. Get in touch and we’ll build something that scales to your scale.

No. Some players stay on paper, some use iPads, some do both in the same rehearsal. Varius works either way.

Varius is built for digital parts: PDF exports from notation software or scanned baselines. If your section marks in pencil, a principal can redraw those markings as digital ink directly in the iPad app, and they flow into the same version history.

Yes. Highlighted PDF export with a change legend is part of every subscription. Print whatever you need, distribute to stands, archive the original. Varius doesn’t lock anything behind a screen.

Anything you can hand it as a PDF. Varius is publisher-agnostic: it works on Bärenreiter, Henle, Breitkopf, Kalmus, public-domain scans, and your librarian’s own typeset reductions. We don’t need a partnership with the publisher; we just need the part.

Your archive is yours. We export the full season: every version of every part, with all markings preserved as PDFs and a structured record of every change. No lock-in, no proprietary file format, no “we’ll send it in 90 days.” If you leave, you take the archive with you.

The native player app runs on iPad (with full annotation) and iPhone (view-only — receive live pushes and see what changed, but no on-device annotation). Android support is on the roadmap. The librarian back office runs in any modern browser.

They can still view annotations and changelogs through the web portal in any browser. Android support is coming soon.

Yes. The iPad app caches your assigned parts locally. You can view the latest version, see past markings, and read the diff without a network. Live push from the principal only works when you’re online. When you reconnect, queued pushes deliver in order.
